This Privacy Policy was last updated on 24th July 2025.
Introduction
This Privacy Policy applies to all pages hosted at statscloud (including the main website and the app itself). It is designed to explain how StatsCloud Ltd collects, uses, and stores your personal data, depending on your usage type.
Data Collection
Basic (Free) Users
If you use the free Basic version of statscloud, we do not collect or store any personal information or any information about your projects on our servers. If you are working with a saved project on your device, all data is stored locally using your browser’s IndexedDB
data store. Otherwise, if you are working with a temporary project, all project data is stored in your browser's cache temporarily and removed when you close the window. In either case, we do not process or transmit any of your data to our servers or third parties.
Pro (Subscription) Users
If you subscribe to the PRO version of statscloud, we collect and store the following personal information on secure, GDPR-compliant servers:
- Name
- Email address
- Encrypted password
- Profile picture (if provided)
This data is required to manage your subscription and enable your account. During the account creation process, your personal data (email address, name, and encrypted password) will be stored temporarily on a secure server until the setup is complete. Once your account is fully registered, passwords are stored in hashed form using industry-standard encryption.
Furthermore, when you have an active account, data relating to your projects and app usage is also stored on secure, GDPR-compliant servers:
- Project data (i.e., raw data, variables, filters, charts, analyses)
- Saved variables in your variables library
- App preferences
Self-Hosted Deployments
statscloud may be licensed to organizations for self-hosted use. In these cases, the application is installed and managed by the licensee (i.e., your organization or company), and StatsCloud Ltd does not collect or process any end-user data from these deployments.
We only collect limited information for licensing purposes, including:
- A unique licence ID
- A licence key
- The name of the licensee (e.g., the company name)
- The expiry date of your licence
This information is stored securely on a GDPR-compliant server and used solely to validate the licence and provide support to the licensee if requested.
Please note that, in self-hosted environments, StatsCloud Ltd is not the data controller of any information processed through the deployed app instance. It is the responsibility of the licensee to ensure compliance with applicable data protection laws, including the provision of a privacy policy to their users.
Subscription Payment Processing
We use Stripe to handle subscription payments for PRO users on the main statscloud website (https://statscloud.app). Stripe collects and processes payment information independently and in accordance with their own Privacy Policy. StatsCloud Ltd does not store or access your payment details.
Google Analytics
Some technical information about users visiting statscloud is collected via Google Analytics, including browser version, operating system, and screen size. This information helps us understand how users interact with the app so we can improve the user experience. IP addresses are anonymized by default, ensuring that individual users cannot be identified.
For more details, visit Google Analytics and IP anonymisation in Analytics. You can manage your cookie preferences in our Cookie Policy.
Cloud Storage Integrations
statscloud allows you to import datasets from cloud services like Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive. When using these integrations:
- You are prompted to log in directly to the provider in a secure pop-up or window.
- You choose the file to import manually.
- Only the selected spreadsheet file (e.g.,
.csv
) is accessed. - No access is granted to any other files or folders.
The imported data goes directly from the cloud provider to your device. statscloud does not store, transmit, or process your data on any servers during this exchange.
GDPR Compliance
We are committed to protecting your data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). All stored data for PRO users is handled on secure, GDPR-compliant servers. For Basic users, since no personal data is collected, GDPR obligations do not apply directly.
International Use
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the United Kingdom. If you access statscloud from outside the UK, you do so at your own risk and are responsible for compliance with any applicable local laws.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be published here, with the date of last revision clearly indicated at the top of the page.
