What is statscloud?

statscloud is a modern, cross-platform statistics package that allows you to perform a wide range of statistical analysis and it suited for both newcomers and professional statisticians. As a result, statscloud is gaining popularity rapidly and is already being used in many schools, colleges, universities, and research centres across the world.

What makes it different from other statistics packages?

statscloud has a unique and modern user-interface that makes statistical analyses much easier to run. Instead of presenting users with long lists of options and tickboxes, an analysis in statscloud can be set up with a few simple clicks (or taps). All results are provided in interactive summaries; you can explore each analysis, tweak settings, customise charts, and view live formulas for each statistic.

Is is free?

Absolutely. In fact, statscloud is the only statistics package to offer free and unlimited access to everyone on any device at any time. There are no session limits, no idle limits, and no hidden paywalls to increase your access; you're free to use statscloud on any device at any time for as long as you need to.

What devices can I install and run statscloud on?

Any of them! You can run statscloud on desktops, laptops, Chromebooks, tablets, and smartphones. Not only this, it was designed to run on them; the app has a responsive design that adapts to the device you're using so the user-interface will always fit nicely on your screen.The app will also update itself automatically and can function completely offline.

Do I need to login to use statscloud?

No, there is no need to sign up to the app and create an account with us. Anyone can start a new project instantly by visiting the New Project page. Optionally, if you would like to take advantage of some PRO features (e.g., store and sync multiple projects to the cloud), you can sign up for a PRO account.

Is statscloud open source?

Partly: The elements you'd want to be open source are, including the documentation and the R code used for the analyses. The rest of the code (including the code for the server and user-interface) is private. This is to protect against anyone creating a conceptual clone of the software and confusing the market with another version of the same product. This hybrid approach is very popular in modern software development and benefits everybody.

Is my data safe and secure?

It certainly is. By default, when you use statscloud, your data never leaves your device; it is not sent to a server for analysis, or stored anywhere other than your own device, even temporarily. Absolutely nothing about your project (the data or the analyses) is seen by anyone but you. For PRO users, your project data is stored on a secure GDPR-compliant server which you are free to remove at any time.

Does statscloud meet accessibility requirements?

Yes, we designed statscloud to meet W3C accessibility standards right from the start, a pre-requsitive for the use of software in education. It is compatible with screen-readers and can be navigated with just a keyboard. We're constantly reviewing the app to make sure it is as accessible as possible and you can find all the latest updates on accessibility in our accessibility statement.

Can I host an instance of statscloud myself?

Yes! We offer schools, colleges, universities, and businesses the option to host their own version of statscloud. In doing so, you'll have access to an administrator's dashboard that will allow you to add your own users and customise the app to your needs. You can also control exactly what will appear in your users' dashboards; you can provide your own data sets and example projects for them. You can even provide your own documentation too. Is an instance of statscloud complicated and expensive to host?

Not at all. The technical requirements of running an instance of statscloud are very small. If you would like to host an instance of statscloud, we can either provide you with all the tools you need to set this up yourself, or we can set it up on a bespoke server for you remotely. What are the long-term goals of statscloud?

Our intention is to offer the most complete solution for teaching statistics in social sciences. As well as offering a statistics package that is free and always available for everyone, we intend to make statscloud a community-driven project where our users can extend the functionaity of statscloud. The app is already establishing itself as the new standard in statistics software and these additions will help cement it as the go-to app for teaching statistics in social sciences.

That's exceptionally kind of you, but we wouldn't dream of asking for donations or sponsorships. We're motivated purely by creating a useful tool for teachers and researchers in statistics. We have a very solid and secure business model so it wouldn't be appropriate for us to ask for funding!
