Version 0.9.8.4
1st December 2025
Variables
- We made some improvements to the way data types are declared in the Variables tab. Previously, when you re-clicked on a Nominal data type, some new labels would be created for you. This was unneccessary, so we've stopped that happening.
- When entering content into the formula box by clicking on the buttons below it, a comma (",") would sometimes appear after the text you submitted to the box. This was because we tried to be clever and anticipate when you were entering a variable as part of a list. We've improved the logic for this now so it should now work as expected.
- When switching between Nominal and Ordinal data types, a bug may have prevented some of your data appearing the 'Data' tab. That's fixed now.
- When switching your label key type to "Letters and Numbers" from just "Numbers", your label keys are preserved if they are all numbers already.
Charts
- We noticed some of the chart toolbar options were not making live changes to the chart (e.g., changing the opacity of points) and you had to reload the Charts to see the changes. That's all fixed now.
- We also noticed that some of the styling changes to chart would not preserve when you revisited it. We fixed that too.
Version 0.9.8.3
9th November 2025
Data
- Fixed an issue where the text "[object Object]" appeared when entering letters for a newly-declared 'Rank' variable.
- You can now change data types when rows are missing data. Empty rows will simply be ignored when assessing whether a column's data type can be changed.
- We've made the colour of 'dormant' rows in the number column lighter so it's a bit more obvious when these rows are not being used in the spreadsheet.
- We have helped differentiate between data types that have been automatically selected by the app and those explicity chosen by you. The variable summary pop-up (that appears when you click on a column header) will show a grey tick by a data type if it has been chosen automatically by the app and a green tick is chosen deliberately by you.
- If you try entering invalid data into a cell (e.g., letters for a 'Numeric' column), a handy message will pop-up at the bottom of the app explaining why you cannot input this data.
Variables
- As in the Data view, we have helped differentiate between data types that have been automatically selected by the app and those explicity chosen by you. Data types chosen automatically by the app will be highlighted in light grey, and those chosen delierately by you will be highlighed in blue as normal.
- We've also made a few styling changes to the icons in the collapsable boxes here.
Analyses
- The text "95%" was absent for some "Confidence Interval" appearing in the analysis outputs. It should now appear for all analyses.
Version 0.9.8.2
13th October 2025
Analyses
We're pleased to announce that we've added in some new (highly-sought) analyses! These include:
- McDonald's Omega
- Exploratory Factor Analysis (with three extraction methods: Minimum Residuals, Maximum Likelihood, Principal Axis)
We've also revamped Principal Components Analysis to include more rotation methods (Varimax, Promax, Quartimax, Equamax, Simplimax, and Oblimin) and have added statistics on item 'uniqueness', and component 'variance' for good measure too.
Variables
We've fixed a bug in the 'Calculated Variables' interface where pressing enter after searching for a variable name would cause the app to restart. That won't happen now.
Charts
In histograms, changing the number of bins would not cause the chart to refresh (you'd have to navigate away from the chart and then open it again), but it now updates automatically exactly as you'd expect it to.
General
We've streamlined the 'home' page dashboard a bit so that all types of projects now appear under the "Projects" tab. The table of projects now contains both the project saved to your device and your cloud projects altogether (identified by a device or cloud icon), so everything here looks much neater now.
Version 0.9.8.1
23rd July 2025
General
- If you are hosting self-hosting statscloud, we've added in an option to add Single Sign-On (SSO) to your login flow. You can now define a SSO URL in your admin settings panel and this will now display as an option on your login page. Supporting documentation for this is available here.
Analyses
As we continue to improve the R analyses in the app, we've made a few more changes:
- In tables displaying results, we've improved the logic of merging together rows in a column if the value of all cells is the same
- All R analyses are now named after the method they use (e.g., "T-test (Welch)"). The name will update dynamically according to the method you have selected unless you rename the analysis yourself manually.
- We've improved the "Better method" text that displays at the top of an anaysis if a better method is available; the information box now provides explanations for why a specific method may be better to use for your analysis.
- The Variables Picker interface has been improved for mobiles, and we've added in handy 'select all' and 'select none' boxes for analyses that require multiple variables to be selected
Version 0.9.8.0
23rd June 2025
Analyses
This is a big one. We've now added R analyses to statscloud! You can now run analyses powered by R- from the analyses tab by clicking on the new "Run Analyses in R (Beta)" button. This feature is currently in beta but will eventually replace the current analysis selection user-interface. A breakdown of the new features on offer are summarised below:
- You can now run binary Logistic Regression. As with Linear Regression, you can enter your variables in blocks and see the differences between models in the analysis summary
- We've added Fisher's Exact Test as an alternative to the Chi-Square analysis
- We now allow for ANOVAs of any size (where previously you were limited to a maximum of two between-subjects factors) and added in the option to add covariate variables
- We now provide more follow-up tests for ANOVAs, including Tukey and Holm adjustments
- We've added more options to the McNemar test, including the option to choose whether you want to run an exact tets or run with correction.
- We've added the Promax rotation method for Principal Components Analysis
- The analysis selection interface has been improved so that it is easier to understand what analysis is best
- The variable picker box has been improved so it now indicates when a valid variable selection has been made with a green border. It is now more intuitive to select variables for a repeated-measures design and there is now an option to switch betwen individual variables and variables grouped with repeated measures factors
- In redesigning the user-interface for analysis selection, we've added a few nice new animations to spruce things up a bit. We hope you like them!
- The 'Options' toolbar is now to the right of the analysis, consistent with the user-interface of the 'Charts' and 'Code' tabs
- We've moved the 'delete' button in the footer of the analysis preview to the header and added the ability to select a 'colour' for each analysis for easy identification
- It is now possible to see the exact code statscloud used to generate your analysis by clicking on the 'Code' button in the header of an R analysis
This updates lays the groundwork for some more exciting updates, so do look out for these.
Version 0.9.7.4
29th March 2025
General
- If you had really, really tiny p values in results tables, they would sometimes show up as "0". That's not technically correct, so they now show up as "< 0.001".
- We realised an earlier version stopped the app appearing in various languages, so we fixed that in this one. Nous sommes vraiment désolés pour cela!
- PRO users now stay signed in after closing and reopening the app.
- ADMINS of private instances of the app can now limit how big imported files can be, how many maximum rows and columns a dataset can have, and how many filters, charts, analyses users can create in each project.
- Some dark mode improvements
Version 0.9.7.3
17th March 2025
Charts
- Some parts of the app were not allowing you to save charts from the drop-down menus, but that's all been fixed now. We also noticed that charts were not always saved as .jpg files when requested, so we've made sure they are now. This means that, even if you're saving a chart in dark mode, they'll have a white background behind them.
General
For PRO users, we've made a few improvements for you:
- We've added a new 'Share live project link' pop-up window that should managing shares of your project much easier. This interface is more logical and streamlined than our first attempt. We hope you like it!
- Sometimes you encountered an error saying that data could not be sent to the cloud when you were keeping a project saved locally. The error made sense, but seeing it didn't, so we got rid of that.
We've also been gearing up for our next big update (on R analyses), so keep your eyes peeled for that...!
Version 0.9.7.2
1st November 2024
Analyses
- One-way ANOVAs and Kruskal-Wallis analyses had an issue displaying when the group sizes were uneven. This has now been fixed.
- Some factor level names were not showing up correctly in post-hoc tests of the ANOVA analyses. This has been fixed too.
Version 0.9.7.1
7th October 2024
Data
- We spotted an issue when the result of calculated variables would not be displayed when some rows were deleted. This has been fixed now.
- While we were tinkering with the way calculated variables are calculated, we noticed a way of making this more efficient, so we made it more efficient.
- Arrow key navigation stopped working when you hit a cell that belonged to a calculated variable. That was annoying, so we fixed that.
Analyses
- Some of our new follow-up tests were showing codenames for variable names instead of user-friendly names when viewing them in the pop-up preview. That may have looked a bit scary, so we put that right.
General
- We've made some dark mode improvements 🌙
- The header in Dashboard view was recently given a background, which undermined the theming of it a bit, so we made it transparent so it looks better.
Version 0.9.7.0
6th October 2024
Data
- We've improved the way statscloud imports data from CSV files. Specifically, some cells that began with numbers but included letters were being imported as numbers with the letters removed. That's not good, so we fixed that right away. Also, we had a clever way of determining how wide your spreadsheet column should be by looking at the length of all the values in that column. Unfortunately, it wasn't clever enough to look at the header row too. It is now. 👍
Analyses
- We've added more post-hoc tests to ANOVAs! 🎉 Now, you get post-hoc tests for all paired values in each main effect and in interaction effects. These tests appear for both independent-samples and related-samples ANOVAs.
- That's not all: We've also changed the way post-hoc tables are displayed in the analysis output. Now, instead of toggling which post-hoc test you'd like to see in the output from a dropdown menu at the top of the analysis, the dropdown menu now appears right above the table - exactly where it should be.
- We've also added post-hoc tests for Friedman's ANOVA, both uncorrected and with the Bonferroni correction. We also threw in a Kendall's W effect size while we were at it.
- We fixed a quick bug that claimed a test was violated if you didn't have any repeated-measures factors in your non-repeated-measures ANOVA. That's now fixed.
- We discovered an issue where some Wilcoxon test results would be based on positive rather than negative ranks. This would have been obvious from the (impossible) p-values it was generating. This has now been addressed, so you'll only see correct (possible) p-values now.
- Behind the scenes, we've started work on a brand new analysis system that will allow you to write your own custom analyses. Stay tuned for that.
Version 0.9.6.9
6th September 2024
General
We've had a bit of a reshuffle of content on our homepages. Now, the initial landing page of the statscloud.app can be found at about.statscloud.app, and the landing page at statscloud.app is simply a welcome page for the app. This helps keep the content hosted at statscloud.app focused on just the app content.
For our partners using licenced versions of statscloud, your welcome pages will now include some text stating that your version of statscloud has been licenced to you.
Version 0.9.6.8
1st August 2024
General
- For our PRO users, we've just added a system that allows you to send any errors syncing to the cloud over to us so we can look into them and fix them. Hopefully you'll never see this but, if you do ever encounter any issues sending data to the cloud, you'll be the first to know.
- For PRO users, we've improved the look of the 'Share' live link pop-up so this is more intuitive to use
- For PRO users, we've added the ability to view and add library variables from the Libary tab on the dashboard. This tab will be the home of your whole library, including upcoming Anaysis modules. Stay tuned for that!
- For all users, we've restored the pop-up warning that shows when you exit a temporary project without saving just so you're sure that your data will be removed when you leave the session.
Version 0.9.6.7
8th July 2024
General
- We've made some subtle user-interface improvements to the 'Home' page of the app for both the free and PRO users
- We've created a new 'PRO' page containing more information on the PRO version of statscloud: https://about.statscloud.app/pro
Data
- The 'paste' icon in the data toolbar no longer shows a warning saying that access to the clipboard is not permitted in a browser when clicked. The button now works as expected (pending permission for the app to access your clipboard)
- While we were upgrading the paste icon, we decided some of the icons needed a refresh, so they look a little nicer now
Variables
- We've added some more functions to calculated variables, including
ISBLANK(),IF()and some conditional symbols too (e.g.,<,>,<=,>=,=,!=) so you now generate conditional numeric variables
Version 0.9.6.6
19th June 2024
General
We've now added the ability to share cloud projects from users across an instance of statscloud. If you're running your own instance of statscloud, your users now have the option to share a 'live link' to a project with other users on your instance. Live project links are always up-to-date and, if you modify your project after generating the link, the changes will always be reflected in the shared link. In addition, you can also customise which columns you'd like to share in the live link (which is useful if some columns contain sensitive data that you'd rather not share).
Version 0.9.6.5
31st May 2024
General
We've made some accessibility improvements to the app to ensure it is compliant with the WGAC 2.2 criteria. The majority of the items in the new criteria were already being met by the app, though we have made one notable change:
- All focusable elements now have a 2px outline when highlighted, with a sufficient contrast ratio (to ensure compliance with item 2.4.13: Focus Appearance)
In addition, we made the following improvements to accessibility:
- The colour contrast for some buttons has been increased to reach AAA standard were possible, but AA at minimum
- A small number of input elements were not given informative labels, but this has been changed so they do now
- Some elements were not flagged as being disabled when they should, but this has also been fixed now
These changes have resulted in a few minor styling issues that have improved the overall appearance of the app.
Version 0.9.6.4
26th April 2024
General
- We now have a brand new log in screen for all those with PRO accounts, or users on other instances of statscloud. We also now allow users to log in via a username and password, as well as OAuth services (e.g., Login with GitHub / Google)
- The home screen now has tabs for "Profile" where users can upload a display photo or change their password (if logging in with a user name)
- We've added new user 'roles' to the app, meaning you can either be a 'basic' user, a 'moderator' (who can impersonate other users), or an 'admin' (who can add/edit/remove users). These tools are now available for all admins running their own instance of statscloud
- We've improved the 'Share' interface for widgets, so it's now possible to choose your own colour for these. The embedded widgets now come without a border, and will automatically fill the page they have been copied in to, so they can be integrated more seamlessly with your online resources
- We've tidied up the interface with some nice new icons
Data
- Titles of example projects now display when opening from the 'Home' page
- Sometimes, copying numbers with a value of 0 would cause them to display as "NaN" when pasted back into the spreadsheet (that's "not a number" for those who aren't programmers). Obviously, they are numbers, so that doesn't happen now.
- We've improved the way URL parameters (or query strings) load up data in a new project; it's now possible to define variable names for raw data declared in the URL via the
variablesquery string
Version 0.9.6.3
2nd April 2024
Data
- We've made some big improvements to the way the app handles Ordinal data:
- It's now possible to define what number your Ordinal scales start from. Previously, you could only start an Ordinal scale from a key value of 1, but you can override this (to start from 0, for example). All other key values after this increment by 1 as normal and cannot be edited.
- When you switch a Ratio variable to an Ordinal data type, data keys are generated for all values in between the minimum and maximum values, even if they don't appear in your data set.
- It's now only possible to switch an Ordinal variable to a Ratio variable if all the label values in it are numeric.
- Sometimes, clicking a cell in the number column would cause the spreadsheet to scroll up suddenly. That was annoying, so we fixed that.
- Inserting a row and typing without selecting the newly created cell may have caused the wrong cell to be edited. That's fixed too.
- Nominal variables were not sorted correctly. They are now.
- Now, when you sort variables (by ascending/descending order), an arrow indicating that the column is being sorted displays in the header cell. If there is more than one column being sorted, the order in which the columns are sorted is also displayed in the header cell as a number.
Variables
- The icon for Ordinal data now displays a 'reversed' arrow when the variable has been selected to reverse.
- The user-defined 'Values' box now has buttons to move labels up and down, and to merge with another label (without needing to open a menu)
Charts
- We fixed a bug in 'differences' charts (bar, line, boxplot, raincloud, violin) that would prevent the axes displaying properly if the chart included a condition with no data. Now, the chart is drawn normally and the label of the condition with no data is displayed on the chart as an empty space.
Analyses
- When selecting Ordinal variables in the Variables selection box, the drawer showing (potentially lots of) labels no longer displays.
- Some non-parametric tests (e.g., Mann-Whitney U) showed a 'Test Design' violation flag if they included Ordinal data. Clearly that wasn't right, so we fixed that.
- We changed the default settings for the Mann-Whitney U table so that the U1 and U2 values always appear in the table. We realised this information was useful for lots of users and makes viewing the calculation more intuitive.
- We noticed some chart previews (e.g., scatter plots) had an option to change the chart type even when another one wasn't available. This now only displays when there is. We also changed the icon so this is more intuitive.
Version 0.9.6.2
11th March 2024
Analyses
- We noticed a small bug where some predictor labels for 'Differences' tests (Independent samples T-tests, Mann-Whitney U) would not always correspond to the labels in the table. We've fixed that now so they always will.
- The Welch's version of the One-way ANOVA test has similarly been improved, and a small bug that led to some inflated calculations has now been fixed.
Version 0.9.6.1
4th March 2024
Data
- You may have noticed that the spreadsheet in the data view sometimes snapped back after scrolling to a new place, and that it was quite annoying. You'll be pleased to know that we identified what was causing that so it shouldn't happen again now!
- The spreadsheet in the data widget has been fixed so that the variable summary menu that appeared when clicking on a column header is always aligned correctly now
Charts
- Fixed a small issue with some bar charts which caused the legend box colours to not match up with the bar colours
Version 0.9.6
21st February 2024
Code
- We now have an R Console built into the app! This console is powered by WebR and allows you to load in libraries from R so you can perform many more additional functions on your data.
- While we were adding the R Console, we also improved the Python console too. The code editor on both now uses the powerful Monaco code editor developed for Visual Studio Code. This means you benefit from hints, auto-formatting, keyboard shortcuts, code-folding, a minimap, and many more things.
- We improved the way calculated variables are delcared in the codebook. Now, all calculated variables attached to an analysis (e.g., residuals in a regression analysis) now get added to the data set after that analysis has run.
General
- When viewing the app in mobile view, the icons at the bottom may have disappeared off screen (depending on your screen size). It's now possible to scroll to these so you can see/access all of them.
Version 0.9.5.8
23rd January 2024
- Improved the algorithmn for checking for a header row in imported data files so it detects these more accurately
- Fixed a small bug when changing the legend colours in a pie chart
Version 0.9.5.7
20th December 2023
- Fixed data splitting in 'differences' charts (i.e., bar, horizontal, line, box-plot, violin, and raincloud) when a variable to split the data was selected
- Fixed a bug that caused multiple charts to be displayed in the Dashboard tab when a new one of the same kind was selected
- Added more translations for available languages
Version 0.9.5.6
11th December 2023
- Fixed an issue that prevented dates from displaying properly when entered in a specific format
- Added more customisation options for widgets
Version 0.9.5.5
8th December 2023
- Added the 'Help' widget to the dashboard view
- Improved the default layouts of the dashboard view
- Fixed cloud saving variables for PRO users
Version 0.9.5.4
4th December 2023
- More improvements to dark mode
- Fixed some issues with links on the home page when using the mobile interface
- Fixed an issue with the colour palette when embedding a widget in an iframe
Version 0.9.5.3
20th November 2023
General
- Some improvements to dark mode
- Fixed some issues when installing as a Progressive Web App
Version 0.9.5.2
13th November 2023
General
- The statscloud logo at the top now links to about.statscloud.app.
- For those hosting their own BASIC instance of statscloud, we've removed the link to the 'Home' screen if you don't have any datasets or templates for projects stored on your instance (i.e., if you don't need the 'Home' screen)
- Improvements to dark mode
Version 0.9.5.1
10th November 2023
Data
- We fixed a couple of issues with data entry. Now, when you enter data with thousand or decimal point separators or decimal places, these are entered correctly regardless of the language selected.
- Similarly, if your numeric data contained decimal places, sometimes these were not restored when switching between Ratio and Ordinal data. This should all work as expected now.
- When switching between data types, the data types now have their full name everywhere in the app to remove ambuigity; e.g., "Ratio" is now "Number (Interval/Ratio)" to remove.
- The Centrality tab in the data summary pop-up has ben altered so that changing the confidence intervals to >= 100 or <= 0 alerts users that this is not possible.
- When renaming variable names in the spreadsheet, a space could not be entered. That's been fixed now.
Analyses
- In the highlights section, the text: "This test is not significant" now reads as: "This test result is not significant" to make it a little more accurate
- In the independant samples t-test (Student & Welch's), we now show the mean difference by default
- For new users, we have automatic assumption testing switched on by default
Version 0.9.5
2nd November 2023
In this version, we added our brand new 'Dashboard' tab which you can now access in the project sidebar. This new mode allows you to view your whole project on one screen through customisable widgets.
Related to this, we've also added new ways to share your projects (which are available on the 'Share' pop-up); we have a new share button, and a customisable widget.
Version 0.9.4.4
16th August 2023
Analysis
We fixed some issues with the Wilcoxon test. Previously, if your ranks contained zeros, these were not extracted properly, leading to an issue with the z and p values calculated. This is now fixed. You can now also view the exact p values (as reported by SPSS) and the approximate p values (as reported by R) separately. We've also added the mean ranks (positive and negative) to the descriptive table, including the formulas used to calculate them. Finally, we improved the generated code for R for this analysis.
Some of the column names were not displaying correctly in the "Table Options" pop-up window, so we fixed that too.
Version 0.9.4.3
24th July 2023
General
- We fixed a small bug which meant that not all changes were saved when converting a temporary project to a saved one.
Version 0.9.4.2
16th July 2023
Data
- We made a quick fix to the way data URLs get imported with the
?dataURL string. It's now possible for statscloud to import data files from other websites automatically if those websites allow it to.
Version 0.9.4.1
12th July 2023
General
- First, a big one... we've added the option to save a project to your device! When you start a new project, you'll now see a "Save project" button in the top right corner of the app. When you click this, you now have the option to save this project to your device so it will stay saved on your device, even after you've left the app. You can return to it at any point from the 'Home' page (or by visiting https://statscloud.app/project/saved).
- We've made some improvements to the 'Home' page so it's easy to get started with a new temporary project, new saved project, or new cloud project. You'll find a brief description of what these are underneath each one.
Data
- Following our previous update on allowing you to import data stored at a GitHub URL (e.g. "github.com") in one step, the app will now also allow you to import data stored at a raw GitHub URL (e.g., "raw.githubusercontent.com")
Variables
- We noticed the buttons to 'hide' and 'show' variables on the Variables toolbar stopped working, so we fixed that.
Code
- In the code output, some line spacing has been added between each chart and analysis so the code is a little easier to read.
Version 0.9.4
3rd July 2023
General
- We've improved some of that fancy coloured text on the homepage to ensure it's always picked up by screen readers.
- On some browsers, some 'copy' buttons may not have copied text to the clipboard. That's been fixed now so they always should.
Data
- It's now possible to import data sets stored on GitHub in a single step. If you use a GitHub URL in the 'data' URL parameter or "Import from URL", the app will no longer ask you to download the data and re-import it manually; this will all be done automatically!
- We noticed a problem with the "delete columns" menu item action. We fixed it.
Charts
- Some bar charts displaying frequencies may not have displayed properly. That's been fixed now so they do.
Analyses
- If you were lucky enough to have very small p values, the message highlighting whether your test was significant wouldn't appear (which is ironic, because in that situation it definitely should). Don't worry; it does now.
- You may have noticed that some of the axis labels for charts in the Linear Regression assumption tests did not appear correctly. They do now.
- If you launched the app on the 'Analyses' tab with an analysis preloaded in the URL, the app may not have started properly. We figured out why, so it should work as you'd expect now (i.e. it doesn't crash).
Version 0.9.3
27th May 2023
General
- We've added a new system for menus and pop-ups. These are now a little better for accessibility, but they also have some nice little animations too. We hope you like them!
Data
- We've made it easier to set up columns in a new spreadsheet. You'll see there's now a handy '+' button at the top of the next new column, so you set up a new variable really easily now by just clicking that.
- We realised there was sometimes an issue when converting data from long format to wide. You can do so freely without issue now!
Charts
- Charts generated on mobile devices may have been a little too big for the screen. We've tweaked this now so they should now fit very nicely!
- Some charts that had connected points (e.g., box plots and violin plots) may have not displayed properly if the data had missing values. These are fixed now so they display nicely without causing any issues.
Version 0.9.2
14th April 2023
General
- Sometimes the side menu used to remain open when you navigated to another page. It doesn't now.
- If you clicked 'Start new project' when you had an active project, sometimes, not everything was reset (some old data may have hung around). It should be now.
We have updated our backend, so PRO users will notice a few improvements:
- When you log in, statscloud will now check to see if you have a Gravatar profile picture. If you do, that's what you'll see as your profile picture!
- Calculated values from nominal variables always sync to the cloud correctly now
Variables
- In the Variables tab, when you right-click on a variable that has related conditions attached to it, you'll now see an option in the context menu to split your repeated-measures variable into individual variables. When you click on this, it (you guessed it) splits your repeated-measures variables into individual variables.
Charts
- We've added a dropdown menu in the 'General' options in charts, so you can switch between different types of charts (e.g., bar, line, box plot) when others are available
- If that wasn't enough, we've also added a 'Switch factors' button to some (differences) charts, so you can toggle which factor is represented on the axis, and which is represented by different colours.
- When you changed the 'jitter' for the data points on a chart, the connecting lines may have disappeared. They stay right where they are now.
- When you changed the colour of the connecting lines, they may have got 'coloured in' and looked a bit silly. That doesn't happen now.
Analysis
- If you run a test that generates post-hoc test results, stascloud now advises you to be cautious when interpreting them if your main effect was not significant.
Code
- The output in the Python terminal had a spell checker on it (which isnt ideal when writing code), so we got rid of that.
Version 0.9.1
3rd April 2023
Charts
- We realised we didn't have an option to show/hide individual points for bar charts, so we added that in.
- There was a small bug where changing colours of some chart attributes would not show immediately when you changed the chart theme. They do now.
Analyses
- We added partial correlations! These include partial and semi-partial correlations for Pearson's R, Spearman's Rho, and Kendall's Tau
- There's now an option to switch between a table showing a list of correlation results and a matrix
- We fiddled with the height of the tables that show in the results section so everything displays more clearly now
Others
- We've spruced up some content on the main website pages with some nifty animations
Version 0.9.0.7
11th February 2023
General
We've added some new options to the 'Share' pop-up: You can now request that your raw data is included in your URL.
Code
- We've added support for more charts, so the app will generate code for any chart in R, and most in Python. Julia support coming soon!
Upcoming
- We've started laying the foundations for some more big features coming up in the UI. Stay tuned!
Version 0.9.0.6
1st February 2023
Data
- We've freshed up the data toolbar with some new icons and styling improvements
- You'll now find an option to download code files from Python, R, and Julia from the export menu
- Sometimes, clicking "Add statistic" in the 'Compare' pop-up window wouldn't actually add a statistic. It always does now.
- When you export your data to an Excel file, the app will retain all '0' values as '0' and won't just return empty cells
- The data summary view now displays summary statistics for nominal variables
- We also fixed an issue where the data summary view might crash the app for some calculated variables
Variables
- We've separated the 'create new calculated variable' menu option into two, so you can now choose to create a new numeric (ratio) calculated variable or a new categorical (nominal) calculated variable
Charts
- Sometimes, the app may have crashed if you tried to generate a chart with some calculated variables (sorry about this). That's all fixed now.
Version 0.9.0.5
29th January 2023
General
- We've given the dropdown menus a bit of a facelift so they look more sleek and modern
Data
- When you split your data set now, the tabs to each portion of the data set now look a bit nicer. We also noticed that the 'Join grids' button sometimes went off screen, so we made sure to keep it where it should be
- When splitting your data set, you may have noticed the number column sometimes disappeared if you navigated away from the page. We fixed this so it stays where it's supposed to
- Fixed an issue where exporting data to .xlsx or .csv would not include some variables if they were calculated from other variables
Variables
- We noticed there wasn't a tick next to the 'Numbers only' option when this was selected in the dropdown menu as the label type for a variable, so we put that back in
- The "Add multiple variables" pop-up now has improved stying and is more intuitive to use
Charts
- We added a handy new intervals multiplier to bar, horizontal bar, and line charts so you can now customise what multiple of interval (e.g., standard deviation, standard error) you would like to be centered around each central value
- Some chart theme names were in lower case, so we've given them fully-formatted names
Analyses
- Some 'TOST' aalysis names were written in lower case, so we've given these all full titles
Version: 0.9.0.4
24th January 2023
General
- We've improved the way
dataandvariableURL parameters are handled. Specifically, variable names and attributes (e.g., colours, hidden, locked status) can now be defined after the data has been declared. - We noticed that the text in some information boxes wasn't formatted properly so we fixed that up
Data
- Calculated nominal variables that are based on calculated numeric variables now display correctly in the spreadsheet
- As an added bonus, the data summary cell for calculated nominal variables now displays the summary stat correctly too
Variables
- In the 'Related conditions' section, there was a styling error which caused the factor name in each conditions box to appear below the section. It now appears where it should (in the actual box)
Charts
- A previous "fix" stopped you from creating a chart when the outcome variable had two related conditions attached to it. This fix fixes that fix
- Charts with large numbers on their axes (e.g., "1,000,000") are now abbreviated in a way you'd want them to be (e.g., "1M")
Analyses
- Due to popular demand, "better test" suggestions are now toggled on by default. However, as always, you can still toggle these off and keep them off if you would like to
- The names of charts in the chart preview options pop-up box have been improved
- Clicking on the full-screen chart preview button would cause the chart to show up in the wrong place. It shows in the right place now (in the pop-up)
Version: 0.9.0.3
23rd January 2023
General
- Built on the 'data' query parameter so that raw data can be declared in the URL
- Added new tutorials in the 'Docs' page
- Tweaked the statscloud.app/new link so that new projects always open in the 'Data' tab
Version: 0.9.0.2
14th January 2023
Data
- Fixed an issue where pasting data under an existing column would create a new column next to it.
General
- Improved the layout on some of home pages.
- Redirected legacy 'Primer' links to the new 'Docs' page (which is where they can be found now).
- We've made more languages available offline in the Progressive web app.
Version: 0.9.0.1
7th January 2023
General
- We've made some changes to the Progressive Web App configuration so that more is cached to your device when you install StatsCloud as an app.
Charts
- Fixed an issue with some 'differences' charts (e.g., bar, line, box plot) that allowed you to create a chart with only one numeric outcome (and wouldn't make any sense).
Accessibility
- Titles and descriptions have been added to all charts so they can be read by screen readers.
- We've added a 'Skip to content' button to every page which is focused on the first 'tab' press.
- It's now more obvious when buttons and links have been highlighted.
- Links that are not on the page no longer get highlighted when pressing the 'tab' button.
Version: 0.9
2nd January 2023
Here are a list of features changes from the previous (beta) version:
General
- The app is now a full Progressive Web App. You can now install and run the app from the install prompt in Chrome or Edge on any device (desktops, laptops, Chromebooks, tablets, smartphones).
- There is now a landing homepage that gives you access to example datasets and project templates. If you're a PRO user, this is where you can access all your cloud-saved projects.
- The app now has full navigation, so pressing the 'back' button in your browser or on your touch device will go back to the previous tab you had open (and won't close the app).
- We've added a dynamic dark mode, so you can toggle between dark and light themes at your own leisure
- Language support: We've added (provisional) support for multiple languages, including French, Spanish, Italian, and German. UK and International English versions are also available. When launching, the app will determine what language your OS is using and load the corresponding language pack for you automatically.
- The interface for mobile phone users has been improved to make the app more streamlined and easier to use.
- The app now uses multi-threading so it is capable of performing more complicated tasks in the background.
- The app is now written in TypeScript (a type-safe version of JavaScript) which has greatly cut down the number of bugs in the app.
- We've given the app a fresh lick of paint so it has a much smarter sidebar and a more modern look overall.
Data
- You can now work with much bigger datasets; we've raised the limit to 100 000 rows and 500 columns. However, these limits are just 'soft' limits; we'll provide a way to raise these limits so you can work with data sets of potentially any size. When working with data sets over 10 000, the app now gives you an option to import a subset of the data if you would like to.
- Data-splitting is now much improved. The data split tool now spits your dataset into tabs according to your split criteria and provides live summary stats on each of these for you at the bottom of the grid. If that wasn't enough, you can use the data split criteria when you create charts and analyses (see below):
- We've improved data entry for touch devices in the Data Form mode. You can now enter numeric data via a slider, and enter categorical (nominal or ordinal) data via 'radio' buttons or a dropdown menu.
Charts
- Charts now update automatically. However, you can choose whether to switch automatic updating on and off via a new toggle switch in the user-interface.
- Data splitting: you can now choose a variable to split your data on to produce multiple charts at each level of your data split.
- Chart-editing is now much easier on touch devices and can be done so via a new interactive pop-up window.
- We now have a 'copy' button so you can copy charts right from the app into a Word Processor.
Analyses
- As with charts, analyses update automatically, but this can be toggled on and off via a toggle switch.
- As with charts, multiple analyses can be run according to a data split.
- The 'Test Design' assumption checker is now much intuitive and provides more details on how the test design criteria has been met for each test.
Other improvements
- Improved y-axis scaling for density plots.
- The 'repeated-measures' variable selection tool when creating charts and analyses has been improved so that it doesn't automatically assign names for levels (e.g., 'Level 1') and instead, uses the name of the variables.
Upcoming improvements
- The ability to generate code for 'R Studio' no longer appears in the 'Code' tab, but will resurface in our upcoming 'Reports' tab. We estimate this will be ready in Q2 2023.
